Grace of God
Grace is God’s inexhaustible supply of goodness. God owes us nothing. Yet in grace He keeps us alive. Grace is what God does for us, what we could never do for ourselves.
God’s free gift is grace (Romans 5:15-18). We all have common grace. Matthew 5:45 tells us He gives the sun and rain to the righteous and unrighteous. BUT His kids get special grace; we get to go to Heaven.
Grace means to give a person something he or she does not deserve. Mercy is identifying with someone’s misery (not giving someone what they deserve). In mercy, God’s heart went out to us in our helpless condition and gave us grace – salvation (Ephesians 2:4-5).
If we confess our sins, He puts our sin in the sea of forgetfulness (Micah 7:19), and it will be separated from us as far as the east is from the west (Psalm 103:12). The Bible says that life is in the blood (Genesis 9:4). Not only was blood needed, but a perfect life, one that had completed all the law (God’s demands). Jesus did that for us. He took our sin and paid for it. Now God sees our lives as if we had lived a perfect life (This is if you are born again). So not only are we cleansed from sin, we are viewed as if we had been perfect! This does not include the wonderful things God supplies for His children like: a secure salvation, rewards, Heaven and a new body (the list can go on and on).
It is because of God’s mercy that we have not been consumed because they (His mercies) are new every day (Lamentations 3:22-23). Each day we are given another breath of air, another beating of our hearts. What will you do with that gift?
God has something for all our needs; there is no such thing as insufficient grace (2 Corinthians 9:8). God’s grace is perfected in our weakness. (2 Corinthians 12:7-9). We are to grow in grace (2 Peter 3:18). But if you want grace from God you must humble yourself and ask God for grace (James 4:6). When trouble comes, many assume that God has left them alone in the wilderness. Many times God has not left, we have just turned from His presence. We need to turn back to Him!
What should our response be to such an awesome God? Glorify Him! “To glorify God it means to make Him look good, to place Him on display so that when others see your life they stand in awe of your God,” says Dr. Tony Evans. We are called to worship His majesty! If you do not know what worship is, take a look at the section of worship!
Romans 14:11-12
“For it is written, As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall give praise to God. So then each one of us will give an account of himself to God.” One day we will all bow the knee, will you do it willingly or will God force you?
